RobotVisionCAD

What is it?

RobotVisionCAD or in short RvCAD is a computer aided design for Image Processing and Computer Vision. RvCAD's GUI presents users with a view where users drag and drop Image Processor Elements, and visually connecting them to form Image Processing Pipeline. RvCAD is a tool used by scientists, engineers, mathematicians to explore Machine Vision and Image Processing algorithms.

Supports real-time live video processing from VideoForWindow, DirectShow(WDM), Video4Linux on linux and Video Digitizer on Mac OS X, compatible capture device.
Support reading and writing the following image files: avi, mpeg, bmp, jpeg, png, pcx, xpm, and tiff.
Customizable through loadable module. You can add your own custom libraries to RvCAD. Code Generators create the templates for your custom library elements. You insert your own C/C++ code into the specified locations. Compile, and add the result to your library.

WIN32 for x86 cpu with SSE2 instructions. Win32, compiled on Windows XP(service pack 2) with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition with IDE(free to download). To use Live feed from WebCam, DirectX 8 and DirectShow must also be installed. Tested on Windows 2000(SP4) and Windows XP(Must have service pack 2 installed)

MacOS X.4(Tiger) Universal Binary, Requires 10.4.7 and QuickTime 7.1.2, (also seems to work fine on leopard(10.5) lasted seed)

On the following platforms, you will need x86 cpu with SSE instructions. (The two binary below are not update to date as win32 and MacOS X version)

FreeBSD, compiled on FreeBSD 6 with gcc-3.3

Linux SUSE10.1, Compiled on SUSE 10.1 with gcc-4.1, will also work on 10.0

NOTE: if you'd like to be notified when I put a new build on, please email me. Due to limited space, I don't put all the build on, please email me if you'd like to run RvCAD on platform not listed here.

Installation notes

1) On Win32, Linux and FreeBSD, just expand the archive to directory where you wish to install, make sure that directory structure in the archive is preserved. RvCAD executable is in $(INSTALL_DIR)/RvCAD-$(BUILD_NO)/bin and the executable is RvCAD.

2) On OS X, double click on the file you've download, will expand the RvCAD Applications bundle, drag and drop the bundle to Application folder or wherever you'd like to install it.

3) On FreeBSD, make sure your procfs is turn on. if you do ls /proc, and there is nothing listed on your term, then procfs is not on. log in as root then add this line below to/etc/fstab then reboot
none /proc procfs rw 0 0
